Following the successful outcome of the first EESC Design ZeroNine award the EuropeanEconomic and Social Committee (EESC) is launching the second edition of a competition to create an innovative, sustainable and functional design product with a strong civil society message.
“EESC Design Eleven - 2011 European Design Award for A Sustainable Present” is addressed to design students and designers in all 27 EU Member States and European designers living abroad, and will be focusing on an important issue; “Intergenerational solidarity in times of an ageing population”. Participants are asked to be confronted with a quite increasing global change, by creating innovative and pertinent solutions in terms of “ageless design”, through a process of participative design (final users taking part in the design process) and/or co-design (crossgeneration team-building – young and elder designers collaborations).

Registration for participants is open from November 15, 2010 until May 30, 2011 with no registration fee required. Afterwards an international jury of experts will review all the projects and announce the winners in July 2011.

Regular updates and the translation of the call for entries into all EU languages will be available at
